Digital Citizenship

June7

This we week we created a survey that had to do with digital citizenship. I created my survey using Google document and then embedded it into my blog. I wanted to gather information about bullying. When I analyzed the data, I found out that there is a lot of bullying in our school also some of the people that have been bullied admitted that they have bullied others. To stop the bully students said to suspend them, ignore them, expel them and get them help.I think this project was easy to create but it was hard to analyze. I was fun doing it. I hope you take your time to answer my survey. -Angelica

Audacity Project

May25

The project that we were recently assigned to do was to take a picture of something we were proud of and then record our voice talking about the thing we are proud of on Audacity. Then we had to export it as an mp3 file and upload it onto this blog. I chose the garden I keep every year to talk about. I am very proud of it and I love Gardening very much. The only trouble I had was actually uploading it onto the blog, but that was only a minor issue and we fixed it quickly. Click on the mp3 file below to listen to my voice.downsized_0623101345.

Voki

May18

This week in Internet we learned how to create a voki. A voki is a fun way to create a character. You can make them look like whatever you want. You can add a face, hair, eyes, mouth, and extras. The best part is you get to add a voice. There are three options you can choose from for your voki’s voice. First, there is the option of simply typing a passage for your voki to say, then pick a voice you want to use for it. Then, you can also record your voice with a microphone. And lastly, you can call in to the voki and record your own voice over the phone. I really enjoyed this project not only because we got to create our own character, but also because we got to report over an actual event that occured. I hope you will try the voki. If you would like to watch mine just click below and watch. Enjoy!

May13

This week’s project was Jing. Jing is a website that lets you record the things that your doing on your computer. For example, if your a teacher and you want to show your students how to use a website or just simply do something you use Jing and it lets you record  it step by step. We all made a video showing you how to do different things like for example some people made a video on how to make a google account or how to download pictures on to Picasa. I made a video on how to use animoto.  To make an account click  here and it will take you to the main website. Maybe you can make a video on how to use Jing:) Enjoy.

Photo Peach

April26

This week we did a project on Photo peach. What we did was we chose a book, then we went to Photo peach and created a quiz. My book was North of Beautiful by Justina Chen Headley. I choose this book because it is about finding beauty on the inside, not the outside. I liked this project, because it was fun and i get to see if any of my class mates have read this book or are good at guessing. Here is my quiz! —-> North of Beautiful on PhotoPeach

Animoto

April13

Our assignment was to create a video using Animoto. First we had to take pictures, most of us took our pictures over Spring Break. Next we uploaded the pictures into Picasa by gmail. Furthering the process we made an account at Animto. We retrieved our pictures from Picasa. The process from there was quiet simple, we selected a background and added music that was already on Animoto. Next we clicked the publish button and our videos were made. Animoto is fun and easy to use. This project was enjoyable and only took one day. I hope you enjoy the video below. Try making our own video at Animoto.

Glog it!

April13

In internet class last week I was taught how to use a Glog. This is a great way to show who you are, your hobbies, or anything else you might want to make a Glog about. Making a Glog is a fun, creative, and a very easy way to say who you are. A Glog is very easy to make, go to http://www.glogster.com/ if you want to make a Glog for yourself. For me this was an enjoyable and easy project. Take a look at mine and tell me what you think.

Stories for Children

May6

Jacket.aspx

Recently our class came across an opportunity. Our teacher had a brilliant idea and us teens jumped on it. So now we are working on narrating stories using a program called Audacity http://audacity.sourceforge.net/. We choose a book that we wanted to narrate, practiced reading dramatically for a couple of days, and then recorded them on using Audacity. Audacity is a free program that you can download to your computer. Then we burned our recording to a CD and finally we place the CD in the back of the book along with a pocket for the CD to sit in. We are going to donate these stories to Saint Luke’s Hospital for children with cancer. It’s a really fun project to begin with but doing it for charity makes it even better. I must admit I don’t talk to young children that often….therefore this has been a major challenge. I keep having to tell myself to slow down when I read…..and not speak so harshly. My classmate on the other hand acts like she has been around children all of her life and although she suffers the same speed problem that I do she knows how to be really animated. It’s been a blast recording because I have a problem with speaking in front of people so….we usually go into our teacher’s office and record there. Not only did we have to record but we also had to develop characters voices….that was a challenge especially because some of our characters have accents….haha I hope I am doing mine right. So to conclude this blog I will say, that this is one of my favorite things we have ever done in class and my classmates and I want to do it many more times :)
